In June of 2017, The Academy brought together the entire company, including our co-founders, business development coaches, marketing group, educators, and administration to review how far they have come as a company, to grow together, and look ahead at the next year and its trends in the dental industry.
We had the opportunity to expand our knowledge on the Oral Systemic Link and hear directly from dentists who have successfully implemented comprehensive preventive programs in their practice. Last but certainly not least, we balanced out the brain work with some physical exercise!
The Egoscue Method®
Brian Bradley took time out of his busy schedule of speaking with Tony Robbins and coaching NFL teams to teach us about the Egoscue Method, described as “a revolutionary method for stopping chronic pain.” Brian is the Vice President of Therapy Protocol for Egoscue, Inc. and has worked side-by-side with Pete Egoscue (yep, the method is named after Pete and is pronounced i-gah-skew instead of e-go-skew) since 1991.
Pete developed the method out of a need to heal his own pain, which stemmed from injuries sustained while serving in the military. Egoscue is about restoring physical, mental, and emotional health, and understanding that they are all connected. Egoscue therapists believe in your body’s ability to heal itself, and work primarily on correcting and improving your posture. If you think that sounds too simple, maybe the 94% success rate without the use of drugs or surgery is enough to convince you.
Our Team’s Takeaway
Along with coaches, dentists, and the co-founders of Productive Dentist Academy, our tribe learned a great deal in just a couple of hours in session with Brian Bradley. He taught us how to improve our posture and minimize chronic pain with simple adjustments and more technical muscle training exercises with hip-driven movement.
With your hips in the right position and your stance remaining hip-width apart, the rest of your body can follow suit in alignment. By engaging our smaller, internal stabilizer muscles that are often neglected in intense strength training, we’re able to achieve faster results – whether the goal is pain relief, weight loss, increased stamina, or a combination of each.
We practiced effective stretches and exercises, bear crawls that may be better described as downward dog crawls (getting your hips and spine as vertical as possible), and some movements to reset our posture and help our muscles relax into a position that prevents dysfunction and the resulting chronic pain.
Oh, and who could forget the horse races?
We recommend watching this video to learn more about how Egoscue can help improve your posture while eliminating chronic pain and minimizing your risk for injury, so you can live a healthier, happier life.
