Productive Dentist Academy Spreads the Word about Doing Good While Doing Good
Dental Consulting Company Donates $9,500 to Charity During Annual Event
Anacortes, WA – November 2018 – Productive Dentist Academy (PDA), a nation-wide dental consulting and marketing firm, recently held BlueSky, a leadership, team building, and annual planning event. BlueSky brought together dentists and their teams from around the country to Scottsdale, Arizona for two days in early November. With a focus on “Making an Impact,” $9,500 was donated to charities during the event.
For the Going Good While Doing Good Challenge, each attending office was gifted $100 by PDA, to a total of $2,000. With their $100, teams were challenged to take that money and use it to make a difference. Exactly how to use their money was left to the discretion of each office.
“Our mission statement says ‘We believe in lifting up our team, clients, and global community through education, collaboration, fun, and charitable giving,’” says Victoria Peterson, CEO and Co-Founder of PDA. “We believe as a company in charitable giving to causes that support our mission. But for us to truly make a lasting impact, it’s about harnessing our community. Together, we are a greater force of good than we are separately. The creativity and generosity of our PDA Tribe is always an inspiration, and we look forward to sharing the stories of what they did with their $100 in the coming months.”
During a team building exercise at BlueSky, attendees donated $1,500 to support the New Hope Girls, an organization in the Dominican Republic that rescues girls sold into prostitution. The $1,500 raised will house, clothe, and feed three girls for a year.
“This year’s BlueSky event focused on making an impact that is greater that one’s self,” says Regan Robertson, President and COO of PDA. “Leadership, accountability, and gratitude are all attributes that generate making a positive impact. To help support our mission of Doing Good While Doing Good, it is paramount that we ask for the creativity of our Tribe. This was our third charitable event, where we focused on having fun while making an impact. The fact that our Tribe raised over $1,500 to help the New Hope Girls reinforces that we are in this together, helping to make the world a better place, in a way that goes beyond dentistry. The old adage ‘you are the friends you keep’ has never rung more true.”
In a show of community, attending dentists were also asked to share their “Storm Stories” – a trial or challenge they overcame in 2018 – with all attendees on Saturday. Through sharing their stories, attendees helped each other learn how to prepare when they encournter catastropies. Attendees then voted on their favorite stories with the top three winning $500 donations from PDA to charities of their choice. The winners – Dr. Dave Diehl, Dr. Nikki Green, and Dr. Robert Gatewood – selected Barnabas Task, Live Thankfully, and the Houston Food Bank respectively as the receipients of PDA’s $500 donations.
“It blew me away how much time and care the doctors put into their stories,” says Robertson. “They had Power Points, photos, and videos. These doctors are some of the most productive dentists in the nation and for them to stand in front of their peers and be vulnerable shows an incredible sense of community and willingness to come together, share their experiences, and show their peers that they’re not alone.”
In addition to the $1,500 PDA donated to the Storm Stories and the Doing Good While Doing Good Challenge, and the $1,500 raised for the New Hope Girls by attendees, PDA donated an additional $4,500 to Barnabas Task, an organization dedicated to community transformation through leadership in the Dominican Republic. During the year, PDA partners with Barnabas Task for dental mission trips to the Dominican Republic, providing dental services to patients living at the poverty level.
